August 26, 2026
Dear Members,
With just about a month left in the summer season, here’s a quick update from around the club – short, sweet, and with fewer line calls than a doubles match.
First, the facilities have had a well-earned glow-up. Thanks to the Town’s Facility Maintenance team, our summer crew, and a skilled contractor, the high-glare court lights have been replaced, the Court 8 fence has been repaired, the picnic tables have been refreshed, and the fallen windshields are back where they belong. In short: MTC is safer, brighter, and looking much sharper.
A huge thank-you to Carlos, our Director of Facilities, who researched, tested, and installed Starlink internet at the clubhouse. The connection is now much faster – finally, our Wi-Fi has stopped playing defensive baseline tennis. Please check the clubhouse poster for details. With the improved connection, we’re also working on easier real-time access to court conditions.
We also send our heartfelt thanks to Matt Flood, our club manager, who will be heading back to the UK at the end of August. Matt has brought warmth, care, and steady support to the club, and we wish him every success in his next chapter. At the same time, we’re pleased to welcome Alex Trusca, a long-time summer crew member, who has stepped up as acting club manager for the rest of the season – a proper clutch save.
It has also been fantastic to see such strong energy at our recent tournaments and socials, including Men’s B Singles, Mixed Doubles, Wimbledon, and Junior Social events. The Men’s C Singles Tournament starts this Thursday evening and finishes Sunday, so please stop by, cheer loudly, and enjoy some great tennis – snacks are optional, enthusiasm is not.
Finally, don’t forget to register for our End of Season Social Party at the Milton Curling Club on September 26. Thank you for your continued support, spirit, and good humour throughout the season. I look forward to seeing you at the club – and, of course, at the party, where nobody has to worry about foot faults.
Warm regards,
Kyle Xu
President, Milton Tennis Club
